In the European crossroads that is Brussels, Memwa Kréyòl will be tackling notions such as migration, creolité, the preservation of ecosystems, knowledge and identity. By questioning the place of medicinal plants in Creole cultural heritage, we open up a new chapter in history, in which nature shows itself to be a resilient example. Through language, the bearer of history, through gesture, the act of transmission, and through the senses, the aim is to awaken our collective memory in the fight against ecological and generational amnesia. The Caribbean thus becomes an anchor point, paving the way for a wider reflection on cultural and social dynamics in post-colonial territories. (RE)CONSTRUCTION, the group exhibition, encourages us to re-examine the world, its tensions, its paradoxes in order to (re)balance its narrative. MEETINGS AND EXCHANGES : The exchange series UNE QUESTION DE POINT DE VUE proposes to enrich our understanding of territories by pointing out the divergences between urban and rural environments, North-South disparities, and in areas circumscribed by political, economic and ecological boundaries. UNE QUESTION DE POINT VUE is an exploration of these multiple territorial realities, and seeks to stimulate our perception into an informed reflection on contemporary societal dynamics, beyond the limits of the perceptible. WORKSHOPS : Because memory needs to be passed on if it is to endure, the workshops encourage us to engage in this process and contribute to its preservation. They offer the opportunity to learn about Haitian Creole and its history, to learn how to make seeded paper to sow seeds, to write to stimulate memory and imagination, and to discover plant pigments such as indigo, native to the Indies, of which Marie-Galante (Guadeloupe) was the main exporter in the Middle Ages. The workshops are led respectively by Sergine André, Tiers-Paysage, Ariel Tintar and Lou Cocody-Valentino. LIVE MUSIC, DJ SETS Music accompanies human beings, bearing witness to an era. Influenced by forced transculturation, Creole music has drawn equally on Amerindian melodies, African rhythms, Indian tones and the music of the European occupiers. They carry within them a part of this mixed cultural heritage. Various musicians, groups and collectives are invited to share their intimacy with us through their musical practices. The festival is open to the public and free of charge. To support the commitment of the artists and Anagram, participation is encouraged.
