During American Roots Weekend, Muziekpublique organizes concert/jam nights, workshops and dance initiations in the theme of the American roots music "old-time." - Friday evening 19.04 Women Rooting For Old-Time + Jam session This evening showcases the great influence of women on American roots music. From the soulful melodies of the blues to the spirited rhythms of bluegrass, from the enchanting folk ballads to the infectious energy of country, women have left an indelible mark on all facets of traditional American music. Discover the timeless musical heritage of the United States through the eyes and voices of the women who have shaped American roots music in all its diversity. - Saturday night 20.04 Old time ball: Hills of Belgium & friends | Square Dance + Jam session Hills of Belgium, aka Lorcan Fahy (violin, vocals) and Jeremy Fraboni (banjo, vocals), are the Belgian ambassadors of Belgian mountain music. Together with a host of old-time musicians, they will play a captivating old-time ball, assisted by caller Annick Odom. We open the evening with a dance initiation square dance by Belgo-American Annick Odom from West Virginia.
